Abdallah Jaber, a Palestinian who has lived in Albania for over 30 years, is currently in Gaza with his wife, Albina Sadikaj from Korça, amid the ongoing conflict. The war has tragically claimed the life of their young son, Ibrahim, one of their three boys. Their other son, Ahmedi, remains in Albania, creating a painful separation for the family.

Abdallah expresses immense sorrow over his son’s loss, indicating that discussing Ibrahim is too painful. When asked why he stays in Gaza during such perilous times, he emphasizes his commitment to not abandon his wife and children. His response reflects a deep sense of duty: “I will never leave you alone,” a sentiment echoing the spirit of Albanian camaraderie. Despite the severe challenges they face, including their home being bombed twice and living in a makeshift tent, Abdallah maintains a rare sense of optimism. He is grateful for the support shown by the Albanian people.

The situation for the family is dire, with basic necessities like food and medicine nearly impossible to obtain. Abdallah criticizes reports of border openings for aid—asserting that although trucks are seen entering, the supplies are not distributed to the people who need them. Children continue to suffer and die from starvation, underscoring the urgent humanitarian crisis.

Amidst the daily dangers posed by bombings, the Jaber family clings to hope and expresses a single, unyielding desire: “We want the war to end,” Abdallah states, encapsulating their plea for peace in an increasingly chaotic environment.
